A Blue Garden
A Blue Garden
2026

A Blue Garden is inspired in part by Giotto's 14c. frescoes in the Scrovegni Chapel in Padova, Italy. It takes shape as a thirty-three foot, site-specific mural in the Center for Maine Contemporary Art’s Marilyn Moss Rockefeller Lobby. While Giotto’s blue was made in part from ground lapis lazuli, A Blue Garden is executed in a velvety, matte blue paint that reveals subtle gradations of color reflective of the hand painting process. Latex paint, 33.5’ x 12’.

A Blue Garden was created for Because The Sky is Blue, curated by Grant Wahlquist at the Center for Contemporary Art, Rockland, ME. October 2, 2026 - January 17, 2027.
